Match report CHAMPIONS!!! ASP clinched the Division 4 title on Saturday with a comprehensive victory over Cloghams. Batting first ASP got off to a steady start with Mathieu Booth and Michael Strange putting on 94 for the first wicket. Thompson added 18 before a little flurry of wickets left ASP at 177-4 but with Strange cracking his 4th league century of the season and passing 1000 runs in the league as well ASP pushed on to 224-7 with Steve Patmore and skipper Jonathan Moon weighing in with good runs at the end. Crouchman was the most successful bowler for Cloghams taking 3-66 off his 10 overs. In reply Cloghams never really got going and a combination of tight bowling and good catching reduced them to 22-3 with Miles Thompson and Mark Pinnuck bowled especially mean spells. Only Robbie Crouchman looked comfortable in the middle as wickets fell at regular intervals with Strange picking up two in 1 over. Only when Buttleman joined Crouchman did the scoring rate increase as they put bat to ball before John Albon had Crouchman expertly caught by Moon in the deep, and when Buttleman was castled by Thompson it left 1 wicket between ASP and the title. Fletcher didn't hang around long as Albon bowled a perfect off break to bowl him middle stump to start the celebrations off. A great season rounded off in style as we only lost 3 league games out of 18 and probably bowled better than any other team in the league.
