Match report ASPs narrowly lost at home on Sunday in a good game of cricket that ebbed and flowed nicely until finally being won by Chrishall in the last over. At the toss, skipper Albon wasn’t sure what to do, and it was a relief to him that the oppo’s main man called correctly, with Chrishall choosing to field first.

A strong looking ASP batting line up got off to a good start with contributions from Bert (11) and Bingo (28) at the top of the order, followed by Bear (28) and Clumpers (44). The latter too looking particularly imperious and providing an excellent advert for the Warsop brand of wands. A wobble from the middle and lower order probably didn’t help ASPs getting up to the total they should have done, but with a decent bowling line up, the 196 we did score probably should have been enough.

After a smashing tea, Lew Robbo started the proceedings with a fiery opening spell, claiming an early break through and was ably supported by Tank with his usual miserly stuff up the hill. Mention should also be made of a fantastic little spell from Lew Fitz coming flying down the hill and picking up two wickets. After their slogger had mowed the unlucky Ward around for a while, Albon had him stumped by a brilliant piece of work from “Stumper” Curtis before Tank and Albon took two catches each to reduce Chrishall to 9 wickets down with work still required. Sadly, ASPs nemesis in recent times in the form of Chrishalls balding opener swatted Albon back over his head for the winning six with three balls remaining to give them a narrow victory.
