Match report ASP fell to a lacklustre defeat at Elsenham on Saturday as they failed to defend 171. Batting first ASP got off to a terrible start losing Booth and Groom with only 3 on the board, both falling to Nazir, who bowled with plenty pf pace and bounce with the new ball. A stand of 52 between Michael Strange and John Yates helped things along, but Yates and Moon fell within a few runs of each other to leave ASP 62-4. Matt King hit a breezy 12 before being bowled by a full toss but Strange and Steve Patmore put on 44 before Patmore was caught. Strange perished soon after for a hard fought 76 but Miles Thompson with 25 helped push ASP up to what a reasonable score. In reply Elsenham hit plenty of boundaries to start, before Strange came on and had Fitzpatrick bowled and McKay caught to leave Elsenham in a bit of trouble. Bowling hero Nazir came out and was dropped first ball and then again when he had 6 but then proceeded to flay the bowling to all parts in making 92*. The victory came in a rush with 12 overs still to bowl. ASP now drop a place to 3rd and need results to go their way if they are to get promoted.
