Knebworth Blues @ Fairfield Park v Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Sunday XI on Sun 04 Jun 2017 at 2.00pm
Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Won 9 wickets

Match report Aspenden travelled to the picturesque Fairfield Park in Stotfold on Sunday. Albon won the toss and fielded first. Knebworth opened up with a 74yr old left hander and Asps opened up with their 74yr old Albon.... KB had a younger stronger opener the other end and he hit a couple of early runs but it wasn't to last when Surrey got him out. Surrey deserving that one after bowling some great overs this weekend. Albon stuck it on the spot over and over without reward. He found the edge, had the bat playing and missing numerous times but couldn't get the wicket. Albon going for 16 off his 8, but Surrey ended 1-7 off his 7. A great effort. Rushworth replaced Surrey and bowled an absolute jaffer to Baxter at mid on.... Smashing him straight in the shins! After deciding to bowl at the batsmen, Rushworth looked impressive. I. Curtis had returned from Uni and was back bowling when he replaced Albon. Curtis bowled with pace and accuracy. When he did stray he was punished though. Rushworth got a deserved wicket in his 1-39 off 7. Baxter came on for Rushworth and hobbled in with two very sore shins.. Worby came on for Curtis and both bowlers picked up two wickets each. Worby bowling two and Groom taking a good catch off Baxter. Baxter bowled two consecutive maidens (somehow) including the final over of the innings, finishing 2-12 and the returning Worby straight back in the wickets with 2-10. A top effort from the Asps boys.

A french tea was followed by what looked to be an easy run chase with ASPCC's fire power in the batting line up. R. Fitz opening up with Groom was dismissed 2nd ball, stumped when walking down to one that just swung to far away and a great stumping from the KB keeper. Ward joined Groom and it was fairly plain sailing from there. A couple of monstrous 6's from Ward were followed up by the elegance of Groom, clipping and driving nicely. Ward was brutal, hitting boundaries for fun. After a short rain break the batsmen were back out and ready to go. Ward pummeled 3 more quick 6's and Groom a couple of nicely timed 4's. The game was over in a flash though when Ward hit quick fire boundaries to get Asps upto the 120 target for just 1 wicket.

Special mention to Kallum's 79* which including six 6's and all of the bowlers who kept the target low. An undefeated Sunday Asps side march on.
