Match report The rain kept away as Asps held together to make a game of what some would say was a poor batting performance. Asps batted first and Devonshire and Pankhusrt were looking steady and the start. Devonshire (14) was eventualy caught at point and Baxter was soon to follow after creaming one for 4. Clifton started to caress the ball about the ground as Pankurst spooned the ball to the fielder at gully which ment asps were 3 wickets down with only 11 overs gone. Potter then strided to the crease and played some groomy-esq shots and soon arrived at 50. Clifton was then cleaned up for 28 and Thomas (0) was not far behind him. Cassels was stumped a few balls later which meant Asps were 78 for 6 off 21 overs. Curtis (28) soon found the boundry and him Potter put on a good 7th wicket partnership of 72. Curtis fell to some good bowling when the opening bolwers returned to finish their spells and Strange came to the crease with 4 overs remaing. Some tactical running and good communication saw Strange try and get Potter on strike to reach his first 100 of the season but showed a masterclass of jug avoidance by hitting along the ground for 1. Asps finished with 183 for 7. This put alot of pressure on the Asp bowlers. Cifton started off strong, as did ward who picked up 1 for 34 from 6 overs. Pankhusrt kept the run rate to a reasonable score and strange toook 4 big wickets for 28 runs. Young Ben Surrey got a wicket with his first ball which was held by Potter in the deep and another falling to Clifton at point. Overall, A good effort in getting Hatley out in as few runs as possible but at the end of the day it wasn't enough.
