Match report ASP made the long journey to our old friends Three Caps on Saturday with a slightly under strength side, and were greeted by a dry pitch and a huge boundary one side!! Three Caps were inserted and Ben Surrey took 2 wickets in 3 balls and Lewis Fitzgerald bowled the dangerous Vaja and left 3 Caps at 17-3. The next batsman played sensibly before he edged Humphrey to the waiting mitts of Strange at slip, 40-4. The next 2 batsmen played very sensibly and took 4/5 an over without any real trouble as ASP had issues defending the big field. With some lusty hitting at the end 3 Caps made 185-8, an eminently makeable score on a big area. Clifton and Humphrey opened the batting and were tied down by some tight bowling early on, with Clifton not getting off the mark till the 10th over! Humphrey started striking the ball well and reached his 50, but was then first out for 57 with the score on 81 off 28 overs. Clifton soon followed for 24 in the 34th over, leaving 96 needed off 14 overs. Ward had a dart at it with some meaty blows, but after he was out, the lower middle order was left with just too much to do, and ASP capitulated to 157 all out. A game that was immensely winnable slid away from us again...
