Match report A very lush outfield and a hard, flat deck greeted the 8 man ASP team at Lt.Berkhamsted. Skipper Albon won the toss and decided to bat, thus hopefully saving the 6 fielders a lot of running around later! As it transpired, Jack Caine hit the first ball of the match for 6 and ASP never really looked back! Jack soon went though for a swift 19, but this only meant that brother Scott and in form Michael Moor took over the scoring, with Moor particularly powerful on the drive and cut. Scott chugged along offering great support,and both bats reached their 50's in decent time, before Moor was run out for 69, the partnership of 144 broken. Scott went on to 62 before perishing trying to hit over the top, and it was left to the big hitting Curtis and Albon to push ASP up to 218-3 off their 40 overs. After another splendid tea, the magnificent 8 took to the field hoping to pull off an unlikely victory. Jack Caine and Albon opening the bowling. With the big gaps in the field LB started scoring quickly before Caine bowled the opener. LB then produced a big second wicket stand being very severe on some wayward bowling, and were cruising at 140-1 off 18 overs. Albon turned to Strange for some inspiration, and he duly delivered, having Bowers stumped and Allum caught in the deep. This sparked a procession as the Berko batsmen had no answer to the flight and guile of Strange, who picked off the lower order batsman like a sniper!! Strange ended up with 7-28, as the magnificent 8 pulled off a remarkable victory!! Big respect to the Caine boys for helping us out and props to Michael Moor for another quality innings!!
