Match report Asps turned a defeat into victory with a great late comeback to beat Hockerill by just 2 runs.Asps got off to a flyer with the bat as the inform Strange (48) and Thompson (39) punished some wayward bowling to push Asps upto 76 off just 16 overs.The loss of two quick wickets brought Potter and Groom to the crease and they put on 121 in quick time.Potter departing for 78 and Groom 59.A late flurry of runs pushed Asps upto 248-4.
In reply Hockerill started well going at four an over,Albon took two quick wickets to put Asps in charge.Si Lindsay bowled his best spell of the season (2-49).The game turned when Hockerill's number 6 batsman started smashing the bowling to all parts of the ground,hitting six sixes and six fours.Needing only 30 off the last six overs with 4 wickets left the game was all but over for Asps,then Strange (2-69) had him caught on the rope by king and it was game on.A crazy run out and some wayward bowling left Hockerill needing 11 of 2 overs with two wickets left.Potter bowled a tight over taking a wicket meaning Hockerill needed 6 off the last to win.Thompson's first ball was smashed for 4 and Hockerill had all but won.With 3 balls left Thompson clean bowled their number 11 to give Asps a big win.
