Match report Another fine day greeted Farnham on their arrival at the ACG. Clifton won the toss and inserted Farnham on a pitch that had been covered for the best part of two days. With Edwards and Fitzgerald unavailable, it was down to Ward and Surrey to take the fight to the opposition, which they duly did, with Ward dismissing Prowse 2 balls after Humphrey had dropped him off Surrey. Surrey then joined in the fun with a late swinging yorker that pinned Moore LBW. The number 3 was deceived by Ward's slower ball and holed out to leave Farnham in a bit of trouble. Then followed a period of consolidation from Sandford who went on to top score with 77, but ASP kept taking wickets at crucial moments, with Strange and Humphrey linking up to take 6 wickets between them, with Humphrey picking up the dangerous Sandford. Farnham were bowled out for an underpar 157, and ASP knew they had a chance. After tea, Jabar and Clifton strode to the crease with Jabar in particular looking in determined mood, and he duly delivered by hitting a monster six in the second over, and adding 3 more in an innings of 56, in which the only surprise was him getting out LBW. Ward came in and buckled down, only unleashing his trademark big hitting on a few occasions, and he and Clifton took the score along to 94 before Ward was dismissed. Baxter hit a few lusty blows before chasing a wide one and edging behind, and Leaver was LBW leaving ASP needing 47 to win. This was soon achieved with Clifton and Devonshire at the crease, with Devonshire hitting 16* off 6 balls to win with 10 overs to spare, leaving Clifton 27* and on the end of some terrible 'sledging' from one of the Farnham players about his shot selection and speed of scoring, bit pointless really, as he was not out and we won!!
