Match report A pleasant afternoon greeted us as we made the long trip to RV, unfortunately a pleasant pitch didn't greet us, as it hadn't been rolled!! After Luke and Bert getting it started for them, it got a 20 minute roll!! ASP won the toss and inserted RV, hoping the lack of preparation of the pitch would help us, alas we didn't make full use of it by bowling full tosses!! RV were 22-2 with Zorbo picking up the opener and the number 3, but that was about as good as it got as a diabolical run out decision hampered our chances of making inroads. Numbers 3 and 4 batted sensibly, putting away the plethora of 4 balls we bowled, before Maz changed the picture with 3 wickets in 3 overs, however a classy partnership ensued, and with ASP dropping 8 catches in all, RV closed their innings on 240-9. Zorbo bowled tidily for his 2-34, but the fact that everybody else went for 4/5 an over on a helpful pitch summed up our performance. After a cracking tea, Akbar and Luke started circumspectly against some tight RV bowling, before a pitch 'invasion' by 2 local crackheads stopped play for 15 minutes ruining the batsmans concentration. Akbar played on for 9, and when RV introduced their 2 spinners, the runs dried up, as they were turning the ball 2/3 foot every delivery, and with some bouncing over your head and some rolling on the floor, scoring was nigh on impossible. Zorbo perished for 30, and Clifton soon after for 30, which precipitated a collapse from 68-1 to 94-6, before Baxter(36*) and Groom(14) give us a little bit to cheer at the end as we limped up to 150-6. No excuses really as we didn't make the most of the conditions, and their bowlers did, but it's just another game, onwards and upwards!!
