Match report On a chilly day at the ACG, Cloghams were welcomed for the first round of league matches for 2015. ASP batted first, and Akbar hit a big six in the first before falling to Bardell. Zorbo and Clifton then embarked on a tidy partnership before the drinks break brought a wicket, Zorbo cutting a near wide to point. Groom soon followed and when Ward was caught 3rd ball ASP were in a spot of bother, and with Clifton being triggered by Kingy, we were in the mire. Then followed a cracking partnership between JW and Lew, with the bad balls being dispatched and the good ones kept out. JW hit a couple of mammoth sixes and Lew found the gaps well, however when they were dismissed it was left to Clark to hit a breezy 16* to push us up to a below par 174 all out. Cloghams started cautiously, with Zorbo and Lew causing problems for the openers, and Zorbo soon had Dunmow caught behind and Jones bowled to leave Cloghams struggling. Crouchman and Bardell mixed defence with some lusty blows, and were looking likely to take Cloghams to victory, before the introduction of Ward spelt the end for Bardell. Bear tied up the other end dismissing the lucky Child and the number 7 in successive balls, and then picking up Simpson thanks to a stunning catch from Jabar. But with catches being dropped and lax fielding, the last pair kept Cloghams in it, with 9 required from the last over, Ward produced a cracking over culminating in Davies being bowled 4th ball to leave ASP winners by 3 runs. All in all, a good days cricket, always a pleasure to host the Cloghams boys!
