Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Sunday XI v Hare Street & Hormead on Sun 08 Jun 2014 at 2pm
Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Won by 6 wickets

Match report A beautiful day in Aspenden brought a local derby to the green, as the Asps took on Hare street and Hormead. It was Aspenden to bowl first and Pankhurst started down the hill with Surrey starting up the hill. Pankhurst started well as did Surrey. Pankhurst occasionally strayed wide giving the batsmen a freebie, but with Simon Lindsay back in the team nothing was going to the boundary on the off side! Surrey was first too strike when the batsmen smashed one to Pankhurst at short fine leg who didn't have to move to pluck a good catch. Soon after I. Curtis replaced Surrey and Struggled with his length in the first over before getting it on the spot and making it hard for the batsmen to score. Pankhurst then picked up a wicket as he finished with 8- 1-27-1. Baxter replaced Pankhurst and started with a big full toss to allow to H & H Opener to middle a four. Curtis then got H & H's number 5 who was looking good. Then the big wicket of 'Munden's Finest' was next in at 6. Baxter was into his rhythm and bowling well to both batsmen, as was Curtis up the hill. Baxter then cleaned up Phipps with a nice slower ball. Curtis was replaced by Albon was carried on from where he left off on Saturday by getting a wicket in his first couple of overs. Baxter then bowled H & H's number 8 to pick up another. Albon then got the big wicket of the settled opener LBW. Baxter finished with good figures of 8-3-15-2. Curtis came on for Baxter & Albon finished another great spell with 8-2-10-2. It was left to Surrey (7-1-21-1) & Curtis (8-1-23-2) to pick up the last wickets and leaving Asps to score 119 to win.

After Tea's it was Devonshire & Clifton to start the Asps chase off. Devonshire found the middle from the start and Clifton picked up the quick singles. Devonshire hit some big blows before being tamely caught and bowled for a well made 19. It was a good weekend for the Asps returning players as Lindsay strolled to the middle looking as confident as ever. Lindsay and Clifton were batting with no problems, finding the gaps, quick running, and the occasional boundary. Lindsay was eventually bowled for a good comeback 21. Worby came in at 4 looking to see the match off with Clifton for an Asps victory. Clifton still rotating the strike and anchoring the innings once again, looked solid all round. Worby decided if it was in the slot it was going and hit 2 big fours straight back over the batsmen head. He then produced possibly the shot of the weekend when he effortlessly punched the ball through the covers for four. His innings was unfortunately cut short when he was caught by a good catch when he middled one to cover for 16. Neil Curtis was next in and stayed with Clifton, scoring singles and two's all over the park. Curtis was then caught for 14 and it was down to Pankhurst to hammer a four off his first ball through square leg levelling the scores. Clifton hit a four himself to finish the match off nicely. Pankhurst 4* and Clifton 45* wrapped up a double winning weekend for the Asps.
