Match report In an ill-tempered match, ASP cruised past Potter Street and moved up to second in the table. Fielding first, ASP had Potter Street 3 down for 14, with Matthijs Van Collenburg picking up 2 wickets both caught at slip by Strange, and Wager run out brilliantly by Bart Jan Van Collenburg Ahmed batted well for his 36, using his wrists to play a succession of deft cuts and flicks. Sapsford picked up a couple of wickets including Ali who was brilliantly caught one handed on the slips by Strange. Opposition skipper Rose put up some resistance before he was undone by a brilliant slower ball legbreak from Bart Jan Van Collenburg. At 87-8 ASP had high hopes of dismissing Potter Street for under a 100, but some lusty hitting from Wahid and some intelligent batting from Lenihan meant that they reached 129 all out, giving them a sniff of a chance. In reply Strange and Booth batted steadily against some good PS bowling, before Booth was bowled for 9, Groom was next man in and proceeded to acore all his runs through the slip cordon as he and Strange pushed the score up to 92-1 before he was dismissed by a ball that kept low. Williams didn't last long as he was caught at slip of the bowling of Bastola, and Matthijs Van Collenburg was bowled for a duck leaving ASP in a little bother at 93-4. But skipper John Yates and Michael Strange led ASP through with a patient partnership that led to Strange dispatching Rose for the winning boundary. An excellent game of cricket was somewhat marred by some of the antics on the field, but as ever Potter Street were one of the more sociable teams after the game.
