Match report Asps produced a decent allround display to win a highly competitive and entertaining match between two even sides.Potter won the toss and decided to bat.G.Devonshire (69) would of had a big hundred if the outfield grass was'nt a foot tall in places but wallace (3) was out early and williams (10), Booth (10), and R.Devonshire (15) all played well but could'nt kick on as Asps reached 113-4 when Potter arrived at the crease.The inform skipper smashed 51 not out in quick time to set Harlow Town 180 to win in 40 overs.
After tea Baxter and Pankhurst bowled really well to keep the rate below 4 an over and Baxter picked up a wicket where as Pankhursts unlucky season continues.Another great spell by the tank with no reward.Then a partnership of 75 by Harlow town for the second wicket allbeit they were behind with the rate evened the game up but Asps heads did not drop which was great to see.Potter brought himself and Strange on with the idea of winning the game in their bowling spells and within 8 overs the game had turned completley.Strange took 4-44 and Potter 2-23 to leave Harlow town 115-7.Paul Ward held a great catch too, as Strange turned the game in Asps favour.With overs running out Harlow Town had to go for it.With Asps 4 bowlers bowled out Potter threw the ball to Wardy and the Devonshire asking them to win the game and they did not let their skipper down one bit.Both bowled well under pressure and were rewarded with wickets to seal a great win despite some lower order hitting to keep things interesting.well done boys.
Thanks to Gordon for playing after players letting the club down at late notice and he got m.o.m too.And a well done to wardy for bowling so well with Bert at the death and holding an important catch.It looks like Asps on sundays are carrying on from last year where there is a great team spirit and at no point do heads drop,and everyone is contributing to the team which is why we keep getting postive results and that's great to see.
