Match report On a warmish day at Pelham, we were treated to an unfriendly friendly with the hosts. We were put in the field and and Fred and Waspy opened up well with the ball, with Waspy picking up two early wickets, but Ford bludgeoned his way to 87 with support from Beer, with the worst 21 anyone had ever seen. BC picked up Ford and then Golden Arm Grace was bought into the attack, and had the remarkable figures of 2.3-0-33-5 as he cleaned up the rest of the Furneaux side. After the tea of the year so far, Derek and Bert opened up against the 'quick' bowling of Lane and somebody else. Derek was quickly caught behind and Bert was cleaned up by a jaffa. JW had trouble locating the ball, whilst Bear finally found the middle of the Minotaur, they both fell however, and we needed 60 off the last 4 overs with 2 wickets left, obviously panic stations set in for Furneaux who bought the 'quick' Lane back on, and Fred advanced down the wicket and was told 'no one comes down the wicket to me' which was like a red rag to a bull, and the next ball he smashed the ball straight back at the bowler who dropped it and really hurt his little handy, Fred felt bad about this as he stormed down the wicket next ball and only hit him for a smallish six. Anyhow we finished up 45 short much to the relief of the Furneaux team who felt threatened when we so close to victory.........
