Match report
One of the most popular phrases in cricket is cathes win matches and that was the case today as asps were well beaten but it would have ben different if we had held our catches.Captain potter again won the toss (never lost) and after being told that the pitch was really lively he put hatley into to bat.lindsay and the tank bowled through their 8 overs each and bowled really well to keep the rate below 4 an over.both bowlers were unlucky to have catches dropped off their bowling.i'm not going to name names simon lindsay.then came lewis who got the breakthrough when he clean bowled the opener. Tom bowled straight at the other end and lewis held a fantastic catch at deep fine leg to give tom a wicket ut it was still the same old story as hatleys batsman were being let off.with the run rate soaring potter came on and watched as his middle stump yorkers got despatched into the field.he took the vital wicket when fooley was on 97 but the damage was done.hatleys batsman were hitting the ball over the place.bingo saw his 3 overs go for 53 and potter 1-67.Lewis 1-49.bantick claimed a late wicket well held by eggy.barrington ended up on 127 not out.hatley ended up on 334-4.At tea asps sat down and talked about all the dropped catches as there were alot.
Bingo and Bantick started well but bingo's innings ended when well caught on 24.Bantick went on to make a terrific 60 playing some excellent cut shots and drives.Si lindsay and devonshire showed that they can bat by playing some elegant shots but si was unlucky to be caught. In came captain potter who needed a long innings as his form of a king pair and 6 was poor.devonshire was was unlucky to be bowled as he got a shooter but potter was hitting the ball nicely and rediscovering the earlier season form.Potter was on 38 when superbly caught in the deep(i always pick the great fielders) and pearman was bowled straight after.that left young lewis and another out of form batsman bear at the crease.lewis was playing well and hit a nice four then started to pick the gaps.where as bear was dropped by the 11 year.but still managed to play some decent shots and guide asps to some repectability.it was nice to see the youngsters bat and bowl well.
m.o.m for bantick as this youngster can do everything.unlucky simon for dropping all those catches.
