Match report A second disappointing defeat on the trot in the league for ASP was largely due to a mid innings go slow and an opening batting salvo from High Beach skipper Micky Bear. ASP started confidently with Mat Booth and Michael Strange posting the 50 within 12 overs before Booth was bowled by a full toss from Robin Bear. It was after this wicket that High Beach started tightening up their bowling and fielding, with, at one point, only 10 runs scored off 9 overs. Strange was frustrated into a rash shot against Micky Bear and was bowled for 68. Yates and Groom tried to get the scoring rate up but fell looking for quick runs and it was left to Ben Sapsford to strike a breezy 29* to lift ASP to 195-5, which was about 30-40 short of what they should have got. In reply Sapsford and Bob Jones were punished for any wayward bowling by Bear and Brooks as Beach reached 50 within 7 overs. ASP tried in vain to put a lid on the scoring rate and it was only when Bear guided Sapsford straight to Booth in the gulley, that ASP got a breakthrough. Strange tied down the batsmen for a while and succeeded in bowling Rooney for 9 on his way to 10-3-36-1. Miles Thompson picked up a couple of wickets but ASP left themselves with too much to do and High Beach romped home with plenty of overs to spare
