Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Won 48 rund

Match report A fine all round performance from ASP enabled them to defeat league leaders Epping Foresters on Saturday. Batting first for the first time since the 15th of May ASP got off to a flying start with some poor bowling from Petchey being punished by Michael Strange. Miles Thompson was soon out for 5, but this bought Simon Groom in who proceeded to hit Poole for a couple of big sixes on his way to 39. Strange then played on for 68, his 5th consecutive score over 50, but John Yates (40) and Mark Potter(44) pushed the scoring along to lead ASP to 238-5. In reply Epping lost wickets regularly and were soon 5 down for 63 with Ben Sapsford taking all 5. A big hitting stand of84 between Jina and Fletcher give ASp a few scares but once they were both bowled by Potter, the innings tailed off and Epping finished on 190 all out. Tony Miles was outstanding in the field with 2 catches and a run out from the boundary and then took 2 wickets for 13 in an economical spell.
