Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Sunday XI v Hatley & Arrington on Sun 29 Jul 2012 at 2pm
Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Won by 9 wickets

Match report Asps second home game of the weekend welcomed Hatley & Arrington to the green, in what is always a good contest and good laugh. Asps bowled first after Albon won the toss. Albon started with Pankhurst down the hill and himself up. Albon kept it on the same spot and the H & A openers struggled to get it off the square after a very cautious approach. Asps were getting through the overs and Pankhurst was rewarded when he bowled the batsmen all ends up, when he got a ball to move in at the last moment and clip the top of of off stump. Albon bowled economically but unlike him couldn't quite manager to get himself a wicket, and gave Ward a chance from the bottom over after bowling 6-2-15-0. Pankhurst finished his spell and ended up with 1-19 off his 8, a brilliant start for the Asps. Surrey came on down the hill and struggled to get his length right. H & A number 3 was ruthless with anything slightly off target and started karting the ball to all parts. Ward did manage to pick up a wicket though after some tidy bowling. Surrey finished after 5 overs for 41. Not the young mans best spell but a decent one none the less. After a rain delay, Ward finished his last over leaving him 8-0-51-1. Clifton started a four over spell down the hill and was rewarded second over with a wicket. Grace's success from the bottom end was even quicker when he grabbed a wicket first ball, and H & A had lost 2 wickets in 3 overs. Clifton picked up another one before Baxter came on to pick up a wicket at the end. Clifton bolwed well leaving him 2-21. Grace also with 1-23 off his 5. Asps were left with 213 to win.

A quick turn around saw Devonshire and Groom open the innings. There was only one way Groom was gong to play and that was attacking. Trying to put everything away for a boundary. Devonshire was thinking the same but mistimed one that went straight up in the air for a easy catch. With Devonshire out for 1, Scott Nash strolled in confidently at 3. When Nash then put his first 5 balls away for 24 things looked good for the Asps. Continuing to hit big shots Nash kept going and was at 50 less than 10 overs into his innings. Groom was playing a nice knock aswell at the other end, only to be eclipsed by more massive shots by Nash who was tearing the H & A bowling to pieces. Groom then moved the a fifty of his own, and also brought up the 100 partnership. Nash then hit two more sixes to get to 99 (and he knew it) a couple of nervous blocks were followed by a nice shit for four to bring up a well deserved 100 and Nash's first for the Asps. With 20 need Nash hit tow more sixes and a couple of fours to leave 2 needed for victory. Groom deciding not to be outdone, hit a massive six of his own over square leg to win the game for ASPCC. A magical partnership of 200+ and a fantastic 129* from Scott Nash the highlights, along with Groom batting through for his 68*. Great victory and a couple of great knocks. Congratulations to Scott Nash for scoring a career high best 129*.
