Match report A pretty ordinary batting performance from ASP was responsible for a opening league defeat. A steady opening partnership of 39 between Michael Strange(40) and Miles Thompson(18) should have set ASP up for a decent score but they declined rapidly from 70-1 to 96-6 as Darby and Rosewell bowled tightly, only John Yates(19), Ben Sapsford(11) and Steve Patmore looked in any sort of form as ASP subsided to 137 all out. In reply Aythorpe reached 47-1 before Thompson took 4 wickets in 5 overs to reduce them to 76-5. Simmonds put bat to ball effectively as he set about the ASP bowling, but wickets were falling the other end as Strange picked up 3 but Simmonds helped the tail along and enabled Aythorpe to win by 2 wickets.
