Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Saturday League Team v Three Caps I on Sat 24 Jun 2017 at 1.30pm
Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Lost 81 Runs

Match report A day to forget for the Asps boys as they welcomed 3 Caps to the ACG.

Asps elected to bowl first and L. Fitz opened up with Surrey. After numerous edges missing the slips, Baxter had a CT behind off a full swinger from Fitz. Surrey bowled tightly but with no reward. M.V Collenburg replaced Fitz and took some punishment from the free hitting 3 Caps bat. B.V Callenburg was introduced up the hill and found some turn immediately. B. Collenburg was going well and picked up his first with a ball that spun through the gate. M. Collenburg was replaced by Ward who bowled 3 overs before Devonshire took the reigns. Asps were looking at chasing 300 but Devonshire soon changed that. He picked up two quick ones and B. Collenburg got a second in a spell of 2-46 off his 10. R. Fitz was next up the hill and bowled with control. Devonshire was bowling beautifully and bagged 2 more in a spell which consisted of 4 good wickets. R. Fitz was also in the wickets when Baxter got a stumping off a good ball form Fitz to get his second & wrap up the 3 Caps innings. 236 A/O. A par score.

Big hitting Wolfe joined Clifton at the top of the order. Wolfe was destructive. Hitting 3 Caps opening seamer for 26 in his first 2 overs. A brilliant start by the Asps was ended when Clifton was caught for 0. Ward was in at 3 and after Wolfe launched the seamer, it was a quick change by 3 Caps to spin. Ward was watchful and hit the loose balls well. Wolfe struck 2 more fours before being bowled for a well made 34. The less aid the better after that. The legspin of Minhas had already accounted for the first two wickets, and very quickly is accounted for 3 more. R. Fitz (2) bowled by a very low one that spun. Devonshire (1) didn't fair much better. Moor was soon gone after a nice four for 5. Ward was watching the carnage at the other end whilst looking in good form himself. M. Collenburg stuck around with Ward but was bowled for 2. L. Fitz joined Ward and for a brief time the chase was back on. Some bad balls punished by both batsmen saw some quick runs. Ward hit his way to a patient and very well played 50. Sadly he could only add 7 more before playing on for 57. B. Collenburg came and went quickly for 0. Baxter joined Fitz. Baxter went for it hitting 2 quick 4's. A small outside chance of victory was gone when Fitz was bowled for 15. Surrey sauntered in at 11 and gave strike to Baxter who hit a 6 and couple more 4's before Surrey was Ct for 2. Baxter 23*. A bad defeat for ASPCC with the batting needing to improve.

Well doen to Bert for bagging a 4 for and Ward's 57.
