Match report Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge secured their second win since promotion to Div 2 of the HECL on Saturday with a comprehensive win over fellow strugglers Thorley. Opting to field first in humid conditions, the ASP opening bowlers Colin Edwards and Ben Sapsford found some early movement with Edwards (4-33 off 10) in particularly devastating form clean bowling three of his victims with big swinging deliveries. The returning Anthony Miles then joined the fray bowling with good pace and accuracy but without reward before Andrew Taylor and John Albon came on taking three wickets each to dismiss Thorley for 136. After tea, ASPs reply got underway and debutant Akbar Jabar was soon into his stride, striking boundaries all around the wicket. He soon lost his opening partner Humphrey for 6, but with Simon Groom (25*) providing watchful assistance the target was reached in just under 30 overs with Jabar finishing 82 not out.
