Match report A good game was enjoyed by all at Stansted. ASPCC were inserted into the field and bowled first. A first over wicket for L. Fitzgerald made it a great start for Asps. Surrey was Fitzy's opening partner and bowled some absolute jaffer's early on, too good for the batsmen. Fitz picked up a second and Surrey sadly went with out reward. Albon replaced Fitz and Devonshire replaced Surrey. Stansted's number 3 bat, fresh from a 160* in a midweek T20 looked very much in form. He soon raced to 50 despite being dropped twice. Albon was bowling well, and with good control. It wasn't long before Baxter snared a good stumping off Albon to get the breakthrough. 3 was still hitting the ball well but Devonshire was unlucky not to have his wicket when he was dropped behind. With Asps ruing their drops and Stansted taking full advantage, Strange came on to bowl and soon picked up the prize wicket when Baxter took another stumping. Stansted were putting on quick runs and all bowlers were in the firing line. Albon came back to pick up his third but the damage was done. Stansted had rocketed along to 261 off their 45 overs.

After teas, Jabar and Clifotn opened up the Aspenden innings. A solid start saw both batsmen hit early boundaries and Asps after 10 were up with the rate. Jabar played some beautiful cut and pull shots on a bouncy wicket. Clifton hit 2 top leg glances for 4 to a vacant fine leg along with a cover drive for 4. Jabar was quickly onto 50 and went on to score 12 more before he played on to some good experienced bowling. Ward joined Clifton and hit a lovely straight drive for 4 before suffering the same fate as Jabar and playing on for 8. R. Fitz was next in. Fitz looked solid and hit arguably the shot of the day with a cover drive for 6. Clifton was going along nicely but with the rate rising since the wicket, a mix up between the batsmen saw Fitz run out cruelly for 9. L. Fitz strode in next and hit the ball well but sadly hauled out for 10. The collapse was well and truly on when another run out saw Green gone for 1. Devonshire was in at 7 and with 100 needed off 15 it looked in the balance. Clifton reached his 50 but fell for 58 when trying to find the boundary. Baxter was next in with Deovnshire. Some good running saw them off to a quick start. Baxter hit two 4's in an over then Devonshire struck a delightful 6 back over the bowlers head to score 15+ off the over. With the chase back on and both batsmen striking it nicely, it was looking close. Baxter went for the 6 but was caught on the boundary for 14. Albon was next in and just got Devonshire on strike who started hitting the ball to all parts, including another 2 straight 6's. Sadly he was bowled for a good 32. Surrey came in at 10 hit a 4 then got bowled. Strange and Albon were left to score 15 off the last over, bowled by Stansted's top quick bowler, and bowled it very well. Asps fell short by 11 runs.
