Epping Forresters v Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Saturday League Team on Sat 20 May 2017 at 1.30pm
Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge Won 8 Wickets

Match report ASPCC walked away with a well deserved 26 points on Saturday. Playing away to Epping Forresters, both teams were surprised a match was even able to be played after all the rain in the previous few days. Epping surprisingly won the toss and chose to bat even with the rain due. Asps opened up with Surrey and L. Fitzgerald, both bowlers had very hard chances dropped. Epping were climbing into the short bowling and before Asps knew it Epping were 79 off 15 overs, no wickets. The bowling change of Albon & R. Fitz slowed the run rate up and created chances that just didn't quite fall for the Aspenden boys. The rain that was due then lashed down for a good hour and both teams ploughed into a cracking tea. Another hour passed and both teams agreed it was to be a 30 over game leaving Epping just 8 overs to mount a big total. Albon picked up two in his first over after the rain, a stumping by Baxter and a top catch from Jabar. Some great fielding saw the Asps lads save a few boundaries to keep the score down. A great ball from Fitz that snuck between bat and pad, gave Baxter a second stumping, a good knock form the Epping opener, finishing on a agonizing 99. Epping finished on 195-3 off 30 overs.

A quick turn around saw Jabar and Clifton stride to the middle. Jabar looked class from the get go, smashing 12 in the first over. Clifton was run out for 2 and Asps had lost their first. Ward joined Jabar and with 6+ an over needed to win, there was no time to settle in. Ward immediately found the boundary. Jabar was pulling and cutting beautifully on his way to another 50. Ward has clattered more four's before he was out LBW for 37. R. Fitz was next in, he looked class from the first ball. Jabar was in top form throughout and looked in control. Fitzgerald played the shot of the day with a back foot cover drive that almost went the distance for 6. 20 needed off the final 5 overs saw Jabar hit 14 in an over to reach his 2nd 100 of the league season. Fitzgerald finished the game off with a delightful dab down to a vacant thrid man to give ASPCC a fantastic victory. Jabar with a brilliant 105* and R. Fitzgerald 48*.

Special mention to both R. Fitzgerald and Jabar for a 100+ partnership to take Asps home.
