Match report On a cloudy, drizzly day in Aspenden, the big town boys from Woodford arrived 15 minutes and were inserted on a hard, dry surface. Zorbo picked up from where he left off last week with a testing line to the left handed Gibbon, and when he got his chance with the right hander he didn't waste it and bowled him all ends up. Already WW were chuntering about the wicket, but a succession of poor shots including Gibbon hitting his own stumps, had nothing to do with the wicket, just a lack of application on the batsmens part. The lower order battled hard to push the score up to 174-8, with Leaver and Strange taking 3 wickets apiece. Apparently WW thought they had enough when they reached 120, but they obviously overrated their bowling as Akbar and Luke feasted on some wayward deliveries to put on 124 for the first wicket. WW resorted to taking the mickey out of the actual village, then the pitch, then the players, but it didn't stop Clifton and Humphrey smashing their way to the finishing post with a massive 12 overs to spare, but even this didn't stop the wicket keeper from spouting off about the wicket, he soon got shouted down as it was pointed out that his side had taken one hell of a beating!!
