Match report On a lively track due to a mower malfunction, Dunmow won the toss and inserted the ASPS, however the heavens opened before the start and 40 minutes were lost. The feeling was, that if Dunmow had lost the toss they wouldn't have wanted to start, but they were eager to bowl on the spicy pitch. Without the rock that is Akbar at the top of the order, Clifton and Humphrey opened the batting, both looking solid in the face of some "quick" bowling from Gilbert. Humphrey soon departed, hitting one straight up in the air for the keeper to catch. Edwards came to the crease looking for some form, and played nicely to start with. Clifton was chugging along nicely until he was adjudged LBW by the returning Wisson. As the pitch started to dry a touch, batting became very difficult, and only a few lusty blows from Leaver kept ASPS ticking over, Edwards completely lost his form and didn't hit a ball for the last 4 overs as ASPS limped to an underpar 153-2 off their 40 overs. Dunmow thought they had this in the bag, but ASPS were raring to go with the ball and Edwards took a wicket first ball of the innings, caught in close by Strange, who positioned himself there on a hunch. This took the wind out of Dunmow's sails and they capitulated to 28-8 with Edwards taking 6-21 and Lew Fitz taking 2-24. With the game in the bag Clifton bought Ward on who took the 9th wicket to fall. ASPS took their foot off the gas a little and Dunmow rallied to 87 before Strange put them out of their misery. ASPS hitting top form at the right time of the season, watch out....
