Match report A depleted ASP can take comfort in the fact, though we lost, so did South Loughton and Cloghams so we only lost 1 point. The game hinged on a dropped catch from the Bear who shelled Ian Venables on about 10 and he went on to make 67. Twinkle bowled his usual tight spell taking 2-25,but we just felt a bowler light as Essendon got 60+ off the last 9 overs and posted 167-8. ASP started badly by losing Bingo in the first over before a flurry of boundaries from Bear and Groomie pushed the score up. Groomie holed out to point which brought David McCombes in for his first game of the season. Bear fell to a long hop and McCombes was caught and bowled and that left Sappo to belt a quick 40 but when he was caught the rest of the batting folded like a house of cards and we were shot out for 140. Probably a case of one bowler and one batsman light.
