Match report On a scorching hot day ASPCC were invited to bat 'to make a game of it' as Stansted said they had a very weak batting lineup. It soon proved that their bowling attack wasn't much better, as on a flat belter of a pitch ASP piled up 321-1. Michael Strange and John Haselden put on 107 for the first wicket, but the real fireworks started when Strange got into his stride and when he and Simon Groom had put on 107, Groom only had 9 to his name. After this though he started matching Strange stroke for stroke and raced to 63*. Strange had already passed his previous highest score and ploughed on to reach the first ever double hundred for ASPCC in the last over with 28 fours and 4 sixes. In reply Stansted set off at a cracking pace with Berry hitting 86 in no time as Stansted stayed up with the rate, but with the introduction of Dennis Hampton and Strange wickets started to fall as the run rate needed got higher and higher. Stansted finished on 218-7 with Hampton taking 3-31 as well as having 4 catches dropped off his bowling. It has to be said that the wicket was one of the best batting strips we have ever played on.
