Match report A day of ups and mostly downs for the Asps team as they travelled the short journey to Braughing. A gloomy day saw Clifton lose the toss and Aspenden were once again asked to set a score. New opening partnership of Strange and Groom strolled to the middle. After 7 overs Asps were 9-0 and finding it hard to get the ball away. Groom went for the big shot, and after the wind held it up, it was a easy catch for Braughing's mid off. Strange was joined by Edwards. Both started to score and Edwards impressing with some great straight shot. After a 40 partnership from Strange and Edwards, it was halted when Strange was Ct for 22 and Edwards falling soon after for 24, also Ct. Things got worse when new batsmen S. Nash was bowled for 0. R. Devonshire and Clifton were now in the middle trying to get the Asps up to at least 100. Clifton faced the new bowler who got him Ct and bowled with his first ball when the bowler bowled a double bouncer, and Clifton middled in straight back to him and luckily Ct it in his arm. 5 wickets down and about 50 on the board, things looked bad for the Asps. Devonshire hit a couple of boundaries but M. Nash at the other end was next out, Ct for 2. Sapsford who had moved down the order and looked good. Devonshire clubbed another boundary before he was out bowled going for the big shot for 12. Baxter joined Sapsford, and it wasn't long before Sapsford miss timed one in the air and an easy catch for mid off for 8. Grace and Baxter had 10 over to bat out and with the score almost 100, they had to bat out the overs and try get Asps upto 150. Unfortunately after a 4 and couple of two's, Baxter was out Ct at mid wicket trying to pull a wide ball. Albon the last man in managed to nudge some singles and run the byes/wides, and got Asps up to 120. Jaimie was the last man out bowled for 0, trying to repeat last weeks massive six. Extras turning out to be the top scorer with 31. A poor score posted of 120, Asps had it all to do in the second innings.

Edwards opened the bowling, and what a spell it turned out to be. M. Nash also at the other end bowled brilliantly. Edwards picked up a wicket in his second over when S. Nash Ct a beauty low down at cover. He then bowled Braughing's next two batsmen with some fantastic inswingers. Nash then picked up his first with a plum LBW. Edwards continued bowling tightly and picked up another wicket, clipping the top of the bail and giving the batsmen no chance. Nash also grabbed a second off a great Ct and bowled. Edwards bowled 10-3-34-4 and Nash 10-3-16-2. Leaving Braughing 36-6 and leaving Asps in a amazing position. The two new batsmen were playing themselves in nicely and Asps just couldn't get one to sneak through. Great bowling from Strange almost prized out both of the batsmen in his first 2 overs, and was unlucky not to take any, bowling 5-0-14-0. Albon bowled line and length, but after being patient with the Asps bowling, Braughing's batsmen saw it as a chance to tee off, hitting a couple of sixes, Albon getting 0-25 off his 4. Sapsford and S. Nash came on to try complete what would of been a sensational come back, but with Braughing 100-6 things didn't look good. With 4 need to win, the batsmen hit a big six straight back over Nash's head to confirm another loss for the Asps, who now sit with 3 wins and 3 losses, a good start to their Div 3 challenge. A good turn of form and the Asps will be back on track for a good finish.
