Match report An fine opening day victory for ASP as they comfortably beat a tenacious Sandon side. Put into bat ASP struggled early on with the wet conditions as Booth and Strange took a while to get going, however things soon changed when Strange took 22 off one over and Booth took 13 off the next. They reached 72 before both fell in quick succession. Steady batting from new skipper John Yates and some good hitting from Ben Sapsford meant that after their allotted 35 overs ASP had scored 191-6. In reply Sandon got off to a good start putting 56 on for the first wicket before Ben Sapsford snared King for 34. A flurry of wickets followed as Sandon fell from 59-1 to 89-8 with debutant Bob Jones picking up 5-14 and Mark Pankhurst 2-17. A late array of boundaries from Green was extinguished by Rob Devonshire's first wicket for the club, as Sandon subsided to 119 all out.
