Match report ASP were comprehensively beaten by Ilford Catholics as they couldn't find any resistance to Ilford's Indian star Surresh. Ilford won the toss and batted first and Sapsford and Thompson kept it tight early on with Thompson bowling his 10 over spell for only 17 and claiming the wicket of Tariq. Unfortunately this bought Surresh to the crease who, after playing himself in, unleashed some huge shots on both sides of the wicket. ASP couldn't control the run rate as Cooper played the anchor role before being caught and bowled by Strange. Surresh seemed certain of a hundred until he advanced down the wicket to Strange and was left stranded on 99. A few crude slogs from Ali pushed the score up to 240-7. Bob Jones bowled superbly to take 4-58 when the slog was on. In reply ASP got off to a sluggish start before Groom started to take on Ali hitting him for 3 fours in an over, but he soon perished going for another big shot. Strange was brilliantly caught in the slips off Ali as ASP slipped to 65-2. Skipper John Yates steadied the innings before Surresh was introduced into the attack. He proceeded to take 5 wickets bowling fast off cutters which the ASP middle order had no answer to. Yates battled hard for his 52 before falling at the end.
